A five-year review of progress in rebuilding the economy and improving people's lives
From the outset, this administration has worked to address the immediate challenges facing South Africans.
We have taken decisive steps that have already had an impact on people's lives. There has been significant progress on measures to grow the economy, create jobs, reduce poverty, tackle corruption and fight crime. We have put in place the foundations for sustainable, inclusive growth and job creation into the future, the benefits of which may take a longer time to be felt.
We have come a long way in five years and built on 25 years of achievements, but our journey is not yet complete. There is still much work to be done in ensuring an ever-improving quality of life for all South Africans so that no one is left behind.
Key infrastructure projects under construction or completed over the last five years in the following industrial sectors: water and sanitation (1-7), energy (8-21), human settlements (22-35), transport (36-54) and urban management (55).
We are working together to improve the lives of all South Africans, from all walks of life. Through the stories of people who are making use of the opportunities provided by government, we can learn more about the challenges, triumphs and hopes of the people.
